Sulfanilamide was ethoxylated with three degrees of ethylene oxides giving S1, S2 and S3 compounds. Corrosion behavior of carbon steel specimens in 1 M HCl solution was studied for the three sulfanilamides using weight loss technique. Temperature effect on the corrosion behavior was studied in the temperature range 298–333 K. The associated activation energy of corrosion and other thermodynamic parameterswere calculated. The results showed that, the inhibition efficiency values increase with increasing inhibitor concentration, ethylene oxide units (to a certain extent) and with decreasing temperature. Finally, these sulfanilamides were tested for their antimicrobial activities against some microorganisms causing microbial biofilm.
