Isolation and study of the steroidal; saponin 24- α-ethyl-20-ene-7-hydro-stigmast-8β : 14β-di-3-o-β- xylofuranoside

A new steroidal saponin; 24-α-ethyl-20-ene-7-hydro-stigmast-8β : 14β-di-3-O-β-D-xylopyanoside; (NS-2) has been isolated from methanol soluble fraction of 95% ethanol extract of the roots of Ophiorrhiza mungos (Linn).
