Photophysical Properties And Laser Activity Of 1,4-Bis[β-(2-Benzoxazolyl) Vinyl] Benzene Hydrochloride
Saleh A.Azim
The photophysical properties of BVB⋅HCl have been measured in different solvents using steady state absorption and fluorescence techniques. The electronic absorption spectra are less sensitive to medium polarity. The quantum yields for photochemical transformation (φc) of BVB⋅HCl have been determined in different solvents at room temperature. The transition dipole moment was calculated in n-heptane and ethanol. The laser activity has been also investigated. Dye solution in EtOH gives laser emission arround 465 nm upon pumping by 337.1 nm nitrogen laser pulse. BVB⋅HCl acts as a good energy transfer donor for rhodamine B. The energy transfer obeys Förster type mechanism. The fluorescence quenching of BVB⋅HCl by MV2+ was also studied in methanol and ethylene glycol.
