Aseries of coordination polymers of the general formula {[M(DPP)(MIMZ)X (H2O)].xH2O}n, (M=Mn(II),Co(II),Cu(II),Cd(II) and Pb(II),DPP = 1,3-di (4- pyridyl)propane andMIMZ = 1-methylimidazole, X= chloride or nitrate, has been prepared and characterized. The structure of the coordination polymers has been assigned based on elemental analysis, FT-IR and electronic spectral studies, thermal analysis, scanning electronmicroscope (SEM) and X-ray powder diffraction. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) was also used to follow up the possible thermal decomposition steps and to calculate the thermodynamic parameters of the nano-sized metal complexes. The kinetic parameters have been calculated making use of the Coats-Redfern and Horowitz-Metzger equations. The antimicrobial activity of the synthesized compounds was tested against six fungal and five bacterial species.
