Synthesis And Evaluation Of Cu(II)-Imprinted Macroporous Microsphere Epoxy Resin-Diethylenetriamine Polymer For The Separation Of Cu(II) In Aqueous Solution

Sui Wang, Linxi Hou, Feng Jiang

A novel Cu(II)-imprinted macroporous microsphere polymer was prepared from epoxy resin(bis-phenol diglycidil ether, DEGEBA) and Cu(II)- diethylenetriamine coordination compound by using the strategy of coordinative imprinting. For imprinting Cu(II) ion in the polymer, DEGEBA xylene solution and Cu(II)-diethylenetriamine water solution were used for the interfacial polymerization process. The obtained polymer including the template ion was washed with 10mL 0.5 mol L-1 HCl in order to remove the template from the polymer. Its structure was characterized by Fourier transform-infrared spectra (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The adsorption-desorption characteristics of the imprinted polymer as a highly selective preconcentration and separation material for Cu(II) in aqueous solution were investigated in details. The ion concentration in batch adsorption experiments was determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry(FAAS). The experimental results show that the imprinted polymer has higher adsorption capacity and selectivity for trace Cu(II) than non-imprinted polymer by the static adsorption experiment. The prepared ion-imprinted polymer adsorbent was shown to be promising for selective adsorption and separation of trace copper.
